Leaving card in exploding box theme

Yes I know it's been awhile since I posted something here. And no I haven't been hiding. I have been busy making my Christmas cards. But thought I'll post this love card I made for one of our colleagues who decided the spend more time with her grandkids and farming.
She loves her garden and this was the basis of my design.

To make it a lot more special, little tags are provided so individual messages can be written by each staff in our department.
I think this is a very novel idea.

Card in a box..... Christmas cards

Another set of cards were ordered for Christmas, with special request that they be card in a box.
So what should it contain as flowers are not in the picture for these as I haven't got the poinsettia punch set yet. So with the ideas from Pinterest posts and stampin' up! connection I managed to get myself started and yes I finished them.
My favourite is the reindeer and the Angel theme.

So bring in the Christmas orders my friends.

A special wedding card

And here I am again, after a long time of procrastinating I'm back and with fury..... Lol
Let's start with this wedding card. Getting the right colour is always a challenge. It's teal and near about. I think this is close.
Then what to put inside the card was not straight forward neither. I couldn't make up my mind between the  butterflies or the lovely birds. Since the groom is a pilot of NZAF so the flowing wings of the bird made me go for the later.
I have to put an extra ump for the interior of the card. I was leaning towards the secret garden theme but without the flowers. So with the bird cage and more branches and leaves to complete the scene, I think I have achieved the secret garden theme. The bird has to be in white distressed with Bermuda bay colour.
Where is the sentiment? With the request from the mother of the groom, she wanted it blank so she can write a personal message for the couple.
So once again, the faux card as a special card wins.

This was fun creating it.

Chunky Flower

I have been so busy lately but it didn't mean I wasn't creating things for my blog page.
I made this beautiful chunky flower as I call it, because of it's size and how eye catching it can be. These invites were made for my workshop invite hoping to promote the big shot framelits I used to make this flowers.
As a thought for gift tags I think, it's size and additional sentiment will make it a very lovely present who adores lovely wrapped presents and gift tag to complement the wrapper.
For this invitation card, I had another card stock attached to the main tag with the invitation detail. Creating the leaves from the same card stock as the flower makes that impression of bold and cute. I used the sweetheart punch and the bird builder punch for the additional leaves.
So for an early Christmas present for someone . Put your order now by visions my Facebook page, RCH Creation.  The set is made of 6 invitation cards or gift tags.

You've earned it!

I've been inspired by the thinlits hearth and home for this card. With the combination of different stamp sets and petite flower punch I have been able to recreate a window with planter completed with blooming flowers. The wall is finished with the wood grain embossing folder.
It's been like constructing a diorama process involved here and I will be making a similar theme again as there is certainly full of creative ideas you can develop from this thinlits.
So here is this magnificent card that I love.
Hope I am able to inspire you with this design.

Tri-fold card- On your new home

I had this idea of a scenic card for a new home using the sheltering tree stamp set, wild about flowers and the holiday home stamp and thinlit.
Use a card stock of 6" by 12". A long the long side if the card stock, score at 2", 4", 8" and 10". Fold the score marks ar 4" and 10" towards the centre of the card. Then fold at the score marks 2" and 10" outward.
Stamp the landscape scene using sheltering tree. With the card at a closed position, stamp the tree and the grass piece around the centre fold. Open the card and re-stamp the tree to complete the tree shape on both end of the card. Because the stamp is a polyurethane stamp you can align the on the first tree print. Add more feature to the landscape by stamping the flowering plant from the sheltering tree set. Stamp two house prints from the holiday home stamp set then cut it out using the thinlits. Colour the house using the watercolour brush. Position one house in the middle part of the card and give it a depth by using the dimensional. Position the other house cut out on the front part of the card. Put an addition sentiment as to how you want the card for.
Hope this tutorial is clear enough to enable you to make your very own version of this tri-fold card.

Enjoy the idea of a freehand trifold card.

Specially made for you cascading card

I have been making cascading card with my own twist. I have seen a finished Tri-fold cascading card in Pinterest and so I decided to give it a try.
Taking into account that I will have to make a box for its packaging I had to make sure I had the same colour card stock to use for the card and the box. So why not go for the purple theme through and through.

And so here we go the purple theme with a splash of yellow in crushed curry.
His is finished off with the stunning card box.
Here is hoping the lucky recipient of this cascading card will love it just as the time in creating it gave me much pleasure.

RCH Creation's cascading card design

I have seen lots of designs on how to make a cascading card. So I decided to give it a go. I know that the card stock is cut in a diagonal way so to give the sloping effect as it is folded and this is all I based my design from.
I used the full width of a 12" x 12" card stock but I had it cut so the back part of the card is 6" and sloping down to 2" to the front. Then I scored it at 3", 6", & 9". This gave me the 4 parts of the card that is folded in concertina fold. The back fold is interlocked so that a cut was made up around half way up the height of the first fold at the back. The second fold forms the middle part of the card and the front fold is also interlocked with the other card stock. The middle part of the card leaves a very big space. I then cut two strips of card stock and wide enough to also have these two interlocked by cutting up to halfway up the width at around the middle part of the strips.these were then glued into place so that when the card is flat the interlocking strips in the middle part of the card moves around freely and stay flat. I used these to as another layer to attach my flowers and leaves. This makes the card look a lot fuller and provided me wit lots of spaces to enhance the card's finishing.
The collage photo above shows the interlocking strips in the middle of the card and the fulness of the layering. To make the card firm and stable, the bak and the front of the card was layered with a card stock. This also covered the joint parts of the back and front of the card.
I hope this instruction will provide you an inspiration to create the RCH Creation's version of the cascading card.
Enjoy!

Slopping card in a box

I was at a garden centre today and saw 3D cards for sale, in a card in a box design, priced at $10. The shop attendant commented on how clever the lady is and when I said yes they are nice and I make them myself she quickly dropped the conversation. This really gave me an idea that , although the size of the card was small, I used to make it this size,  as it was at the shop it actually didn't look bad at all. I always thought they are a bit too small. With this, I am now fully convinced that a small size card in a box is the way to go.
So tonight I decided I will make this card in a box in around the same dimensions as the one from the shop, but making it a bit taller will make it a lot more better.
So here it is.

Having the box feature sloping downward makes it a much complex card. Putting the ideas together came with some challenge, so it I had to design the insert so that it provided a much more complex layering of pieces. To do this, I have added an insert that is folded at the centre so I can work around the layering a lot better.
So this is it, my prototype and will be on the market for soon.

Wild about flowers

Another inspiration with two step stamping technique. The endless possibility on how to use this set is what inspired me today. This is an attempt to get something made using two different flower set for a background. I ended up making it as a feature and highlighted it with strip of card stock.

The coloured used for the flowers is Westeria and the leaves are Pear Pizzas and Mossy Meadow. I think it comes across as very serene and mellow dramatic but with an umph.

Cascading card

Another reason to make a card is lurking around the corner. So once again I'm faced with design challenge for another special birthday. Siîting by my work bench , half awake, vision of a card in a box with a difference keeps popping into my mind. With a scrap paper and the thought of a card in a box in mind, I dicier it will be have to be a cascading card. It gives me the card in the box idea and it also gives me plenty of space at the back for others to sign the card.
The making is about to start, but what colour is most fitting. A shade of pink and coral has gone it.
The putting together of the flowers and leaves was so pleasurable as I can see how the card appearance kept on changing. I'm pleased of the result and will definitely make this card again.

Challenge design!

So what can I come up with?
The brief: use at least two of the following punches: pansy flower, fun flower, sweetheart , and heart border.
Sounds easy but how is hall I put together something that is different from the extra ordinary and common design. So here we go, pansy flower, sweetheart and heart border it is. Originally I though of an easel card but settled for a trifold design.  To shape the overlapping pieces I stamps the flower shop and cut around it. Stamped flowers and punched them our to use as over lay and used sweetheart punch to shape up leaves. The front light side of the card was punched with heart border to give that see through effect. And so here it is.

I hope this also gives you an inspiration on how to create a card of similar layout. Have fun.

Royal blue wedding

I'm missing out again from another wedding celebration in the family. My school term just doesn't give me the chance to be with the family. But here is a good reason to show my creativity, the work of my hands, once again.
This time it's a book card in royal blue theme, but the only true colour I could have is through the satin ribbon used for the tie. I still managed to pull this together and I'm pretty sure my niece will be so impressed with it.

And so here is wishing the new couple the most blessed happy years ahead.

50 in a faux box

Another birthday coming up. So I have been thinking how to put together this faux box and make it not just as a box but a card that will make people talking. I like the idea of the faux box, I've made two so far and have enjoyed the process, so I'm going for a faux box instead of the exploding box.
It has to be gold as it depicts 50 years better. Making use of the flower shop stamp set and some of my framelit die and a couple of punches, this is what it ended up with.
The dimension is 8" x 5 1/2" and I think it looks quite good and will have plenty of room for the rest of the family  to write  messages.

Isn't this card adorable?

Faux box with vellum flower brooch

I have been intrigued on how a faux box is made. The embellishments used to make it stunning is just the icing of the cake. I decided to make one based on Tanya Bell of Queensland Australia, a stampin up! demonstrators. All the dimension is based on her tutorial but the brooch is my version of vellum crunched flower.
I think this goes well together and would make a lovely gift to family and friends.

The simplest present that money can't buy is a present made with love and passion.

Welcome baby girl

I have thought of using the crib idea in an exploding box for a baby shower card. But the baby came earlier than expected , so change of plan and it's now a welcome baby card.
So pleased to have known with plenty of time that it's a baby girl so what could really suit the occasion but a pink exploding card with a crib, butterflies and flowers.
I have enjoyed making this card and hope you too will get a pleasure with the card.

So pleased to see the face of the parents beam with smile on this card with the special crocheted booties and bonnet for the lovely baby girl.
